Those falling within the business skills category, are usually given an initial 4 year temporary visa, following with the option to apply for permanent residency in Australia (after satisfactory evidence of business or investment activity).

To apply for Australia Investor Visa (Subclass 165) you must have:

  • 3 years experience or direct participation in running one or more qualifying business/eligible investments.
  • A top level of managerial skills in relation to a qualifying business/eligible investment.
  • Evidence of sufficient funds covering the 2 financial years prior to your application.
  • Satisfactory funds to conduct or establish a business in Australia.
  • Proof of latest ownership interest of 10%of the total value of the business or direct involvement in managing funds (amounts vary with visa category).
  • The Visa decision requires a nominated investment to treasury.

Basic eligibility Requirements for a State Sponsored Australia Investor Visa (Subclass 165):

  • Age: You are under 55 years old at the time of application (unless your business is of exceptional economic benefit which will be decided by the regional authority).
  • Health & Character: Meet all the Australian immigration character and health requirements.
  • Necessity to live in Australia: Demonstrate the need to live temporarily in Australia to conduct or establish a business.
  • Business Success: You have demonstrated an overall successful business career.
  • Acceptable Business Record: Neither you nor your spouse to have been involved in unacceptable business activities.
  • Business Role: Your professional, technical or trade service has taken no longer than 50% of your time.
  • Your commitment: to holding and maintaining an ownership interest in a qualifying business in Australia is legitimate.
  • Work Experience: 3 years experience or direct participation in running one or more qualifying business/eligible investments.
  • Ownership Interest: Requires proof for 1 of the past 5 years before applying, of ownership interest of 10%of the total value of the business / direct involvement in managing funds (amounts vary with visa category).
  • Assets: You must have AU$1,125,000 (net value) combined total assets for you and your spouse 2 years before the application was made and at the time of the decision you have made a designated investment of AU$750,000. In addition to this you must have sufficient assets to settle in Australia.
