The Sponsored Family Visitor visa gives you the opportunity
to spend 3 - 6 months visiting relatives in Australia.
Your sponsor must be an adult aged 18+ who is a permanent resident
or an Australian citizen. Your sponsor must be either be a relative,
member of Australian Parliament, an authorised person represent the
commonwealth or a local Government mayor.
To apply for your Sponsored Family Visitor visa your sponsor will
firstly need to lodge the sponsorship form in Australia, and then
you will need to send them a completed and signed application form
for each member of the family. Your sponsor will then lodge the visa
application. Your sponsor will make any charges on your behalf and
liaise with the visa department. If necessary your sponsor will also
arrange a security bond for each family member if required.
A
security bond is a cash deposit that adds assurance to you departing
Australia before the visa expires. The decision on whether this
is included is made by the visa processing officer. Refunds will
be made once you have left Australia.

Health requirements must be met and you could be asked to take
a health examination. You will also require evidence from your
doctor that you are fit to travel and evidence of your health
insurance if you are over the age of 70.
You
will be expected to have access to sufficient funds, to cover
all costs during your stay. You will be expected to provide evidence
of this, even if another person is financially supporting your
visit. Examples include, payslips, travellers cheques, bank statements
etc
